Tuesdays, 10AM - 11AM. Exploratory Art with Corrie Guddemi. Do you have a child bursting with creative ideas? Always asking for some random material to make something with? This class is for them! Exploratory art is an educational and creative approach that prioritizes the process of making art over the final product. It emphasizes experimentation, and personal expression, allowing artists to test different materials, textures, and ideas without the pressure of achieving a "perfect" masterpiece.
Each week offers new materials to explore that expands creativity, fine motor skills, and artistic confidence in a fun and supportive environment. Students will also be introduced to famous artists, and their work and stories.

Tuesdays, 11:15 - 12:15. Fiber Arts with Jenny Torino. A six-week adventure in stitching, felting, and weaving. Discover how wool, yarn, and fabric can become imaginative works of art! In this hands-on program, children will build hand skills and express their creativity as they design and sew a mini monster plush, explore wet felting to make a colorful felt flower garland, and weave in the round to create a unique dream catcher.
Along the way, students will practice design thinking, threading needles, straight stitching, sewing buttons, and tying knots. Each project offers opportunities to experiment with color and texture, solve problems, and experience the satisfaction of making something by hand.
About the Teaching Artist
Jenny Torino is an interdisciplinary artist who creates sculptures and wearables using wool, textiles, and yarn. A teaching artist with Wickham Works for eight years, she has developed programs for children and adults in schools, libraries, and community spaces. Tuesdays 11:15 - 12:15. Puppet Making with Karen Decher
A six-week workshop bringing extraordinary characters to life.
Turn everyday materials into characters with personality, movement, and a story to tell! In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the imaginative world of puppetry—from playful hand puppets to large-scale creations made for parades and public celebrations.
Over six weeks, we’ll create a Muppet-style hand puppet with movable arms, craft two-dimensional paper puppets for shadow play or stop-motion animation, and use cardboard as the foundation for a larger-than-life puppet. Along the way, we’ll explore puppetry through history and discover how puppets bring people together through theater, parades, celebrations, and social action.
Come ready to experiment, build, and imagine—and discover what happens when your artwork becomes a character!
About the Teaching Artist
Karen Decher is a multimedia artist with a passion for processional art: creating large-scale puppets for parades and art events. She has led puppet-making workshops and created unique puppets for Wickham Works’ Fuller Moon Arts Festival and Treecycle festivals.
