Assessment and Management of Shock in a Low Resource EnvironmentWelcome to the next Patroller Workshop featuring David Fifer, M.S., NRP, WP-C, FAWM, Associate Professor in Emergency Medical Care at Eastern Kentucky University and Manager of the Kentucky Urban Search and Rescue Heloaquatic Rescue Team. This workshop covers the following objectives<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Review the stages of shock</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Recognize shock using minimal equipment</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Be able to calculate and interpret Mean Arterial Pressure and Shock Index</li></ul>About David FiferAn Associate Professor in Emergency Medical Care at Eastern Kentucky University, David has been an EMS provider since 2001. Prior to joining the EKU faculty, David served as professional field provider and firefighter in Virginia, Kentucky, and Washington DC. With experience as a ground search and high-angle rope technician for SAR teams in Virginia and Kentucky, David is a helicopter hoist rescue specialist for Kentucky State Police Air Rescue and the manger of the Kentucky Urban Search and Rescue Heloquatic Rescue Team. Those who do not have a Pa state EMS certification will receive a Certificate of Completion to use for CEU endorsement.
