Degenderettes is an exclusively LGBTQIA martial arts gym in Portland Oregon. Six months after opening, the Degenderettes BJJ competition team debuted this pink-and-teal rash guard while winning every single no-gi beginner match of the SubQ Tournament in Seattle (March 2026), a total of 4 gold medals. The rash guard is now available to anyone else who wants to support the program. Degenderettes originally dates back to an art club founded in Oakland in 2014, which funded the Transfighters martial arts group in 2016, and eventually incorporated as the non-profit organization Traction Project in 2019. After 6 years of hosting their own classes as pop-ups in Oakland and, later, Portland, the collective opened their own location in Portland in 2025. Degenderettes specializes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and team-based community defense. The facility also hosts team-building classes around motorcycle repair, weightlifting, and delicious food.
