The Encore is a rest home for retired theatrical professionals. Its administrator, Bernice, had recently hired an activities director, Robert. There are two residents who are the primary focus of Robert’s attention. Celia, a retired Broadway actress and Rose, a retired Broadway dancer. Robert, Celia, and Rose have had a close but difficult past relationship. Because of increasingly failing memories, Celia and Rose cannot recall the details of that relationship; however, Robert painfully has total recall.
