Join us for an engaging author conversation with Valerie Stoller 📚 as she shares the stories, research, and questions that shaped her work. You’ll hear directly from the author, with time for thoughtful discussion and Q&A. Valerie is the author of Shipyard Gals, which explores the lives of three young women from very different cultures, working in the California shipyards during WWII. She will share with us her inspiration for writing the novel, a bit about the three main characters and their experiences, an excerpt from the book, and an overview of the Port Chicago Naval disaster and mutiny trial. Copies of Shipyard Gals, signed by the author, will be available for purchase. Valerie will also sign copies of her books that you bring to the meeting. This event supports AAUW DAW’s mission to advance gender equity for women and girls through education and advocacy. Your registration helps sustain our public education programs and your additional donations support programs like Tech Trek, Local Scholarships and other local initiatives that open doors for future women leaders ✨.
