Our mission is to support the young men and women comprising our University of South Carolina NROTC Gamecock Battalion. Unfortunately, the Department of the Navy does not provide funding for all the necessary costs associated with the Gamecock Battalion. The Alumni Association aims to close the gap in funding deficiencies while also recognizing noteworthy Midshipmen. The Alumni Association funds are used to provide scholarships to our Midshipmen, purchase items for the Gamecock Battalion that improve the education, leadership training and quality of life for the Midshipmen, and to send Midshipmen to various leadership conferences across the United States.  A scholarship of $250 per semester to out-of-state Midshipmen not on Navy scholarship allows them eligibility for near in-state tuition. These scholarships save the families thousands of dollars and help the Midshipmen in obtaining degrees at USC and their subsequent commissions in the Navy or Marine Corps.

Throughout the course of the academic year, the Alumni Association plans and participates in several events. Our main events include the Annual Golf Tournament in March (a fundraiser for the scholarship fund), Commissioning Ceremonies in Spring and Winter, and the Pass-In-Review during Homecoming Weekend. We are also available to participate in and support any ceremony or event that the Gamecock Battalion requests.

Should you decide to join the Alumni Association, there are no monthly or annual dues. However, a one-time donation of $250 is greatly appreciated and provides you with a lifetime membership in the Association and will also provide one worthy out-of-state Midshipman with a scholarship. You will be included in all future correspondence from the Alumni Association, and you will be invited and encouraged to participate in all future Alumni Association events.
