Hundreds of students from under-resourced Chicago neighborhoods will receive a new pair of shoes this summer, thanks to the inaugural Back2School Kicks event on Friday, September 5th, at Pullman’s Dr. Conrad Worrill Indoor Track and Field. The event will feature various athletic activities with prizes for top participants, back-to-school supplies, and shoe fittings provided by The Athlete's Foot. A new addition to Back2School Kicks Chicago is the Kick Forward Student Scholarship, an initiative designed to expand the program’s impact beyond providing shoes and backpacks. In partnership with Running Refugee Life Foundation, Community Retail Association, Arcitec Foundation, The Athlete’s Foot, and Youth Guidance, the organizers are working to establish a scholarship that will provide financial support to Chicago students attending City Colleges beginning in fall 2026 and beyond. Together, these community partners are committed to helping students take the next step in their education and creating opportunities for long-term success.
