The AI Policy Lab: An Interactive Look at SB 720 — Artificial Intelligence Ready Schools ActArtificial intelligence is already changing how students learn, create, communicate, and solve problems. But who decides how AI should be used in schools, and what rules are needed to keep it fair, safe, and helpful? This session helps students take a closer look at what their digital footprint says about them and how social media can impact opportunities. Participants will learn how to make intentional choices online, protect their reputation, and show up digitally in a way that supports their goals instead of limiting them. NIL: Your Gameplan; Your FutureName, Image, and Likeness has changed the game for student-athletes, creating new opportunities and new responsibilities. In this session, students will hear from an NIL expert about what it takes to navigate the evolving world of college athletics, personal branding, contracts, partnerships, and long-term decision-making. The Art of a Strong CommunityArt and culture do more than entertain; they shape identity, spark connection, and help communities thrive. This session explores how creative expression, public art, cultural institutions, arts education, and community investment can make neighborhoods more vibrant places to live, work, and gather. Students will consider the role government can play in supporting the arts and imagine how policy can strengthen the creative spaces that bring people together. Model Congress: Turning an Idea into State LegislationEvery law begins with an idea, and the next powerful idea could come from today’s students. In this interactive session, students will learn directly from elected officials about how concerns, solutions, and community priorities can move through the legislative process and become state policy. Participants will step into the role of changemakers as they explore how to frame an issue, build support, and understand the path from civic engagement to real legislative action.
