Through fierce lyrical storytelling, raw vulnerability, and eight striking costume changes, Stanek dives headfirst into the personal and political with What We’re Doing In Iowa Instead of Church — a 70-minute spoken-word slam that explores multigenerational sexism, Christian nationalism, and bodily autonomy. Set against the backdrop of rural Catholic upbringing and late-stage capitalism, Stanek’s performance is a high-voltage ritual of transformation, grief, rebellion, and hope. ⚠️ Please note: Due to adult themes and nudity, attendees must be 18+ or accompanied by a legal guardian.
