Mesa County Organic Materials Composting Facility, Western Alliance for Reclamation Management, and Gardens of Fire invite you to learn the Why and How of Biochar.&nbsp; This hands-on training workshop teaches the principles and benefits of biochar, including its production and application as a soil amendment and a tool for environmental remediation. Participants will gain hands-on experience using the ring-of-fire kiln and learn about the application of biochar for soil improvement. Potential participants include students, farmers, landscape practitioners, environmental restorers, gardeners, and anyone interested.&nbsp;&nbsp;At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:&nbsp;<ol fr-original-style="list-style-type: decimal;margin-left:-0.25in;" style="list-style-type: decimal; margin-left: -0.25in; width: 100%; box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Understand what biochar is and why it serves as a key soil amendment.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Differentiate and select biochar kilns based on their technical features and users&#39; needs.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Gain hands-on experience operating the ring of fire kiln</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Learn about harvesting biochar and preparing it for soil application.&nbsp;</li></ol>&nbsp;For more information, contact: rvazquezperales@western.edu
