On Sunday, we’ll screen Faye’s 1996 film 𝑀𝑜𝓈𝓈𝒶𝓃𝑒. Then, on Monday, we’ll present a double feature of Faye’s 1980 film 𝐼, 𝒴𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝑀𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇, alongside Jean Rouch’s 𝐿𝒾𝓉𝓉𝓁𝑒 𝒷𝓎 𝐿𝒾𝓉𝓉𝓁𝑒 (1970), which stars Faye in a supporting role. <span fr-original-style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;" style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;box-sizing:inherit">𝑀𝑜𝓈𝓈𝒶𝓃𝑒 tells the story of a beautiful 14-year-old girl in a rural Serer village in Senegal. Bound by tradition, Mossane is promised in marriage to a wealthy, unknown suitor in France. Yet, she loves Fara, a young student who lacks the means to provide for her.
