&nbsp;🎉 Excitement is in the air! Get ready to be part of something extraordinary at Shawnee Hills Arts Council&#39;s fundraising event. It&#39;s an event like no other, and we want you to be there! 🎉The American Civil War broke out in 1861. &nbsp;What are the lessons that we today can learn from the &ldquo;War between the States&rdquo; to help us in the future?Blue and Gray Dinner &ndash; Guest Speaker is Betsy Brown, who is the president of the board of the General John A. Logan Museum. She will be speaking about the transformation of John A. Logan from a racist to abolitionist. Betsy is a retired history educator and sponsored National History Day state winners for many years. In 2006 she received the Illinois State Historical Society&rsquo;s Teacher of the Year Award, national recognition in 2010 for history fair coordinator with the Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year Award, and in 2015 received the Governor&rsquo;s Award for Excellence in Teaching History. Betsy is a commissioner on the Carbondale Historic Preservation Commission.Dinner will be catered by Kitchen by Lafayette. Dinner is $25. &nbsp;Doors open at 5 pm &ndash; come see the exhibit.
