Raffle to benefit Sophia

Who is Sophia? Sophia has endured more in her short life than most of us could bear. She survived the unimaginable horror of being hit by a car while pulling a buggy. Most horses would have laid down and died from unspeakable pain. She did not. She was dumped for cash in a pen that funnels to slaughter buyers because she could no longer work. She is a barely 3-year old Morgan mare. The night I saw her she was weaving through a pen of tightly packed horses, unstable because of her broken pelvis, and desperate to get out. We pulled her, she ate and slept and put her weight back on in quarantine and was ready to go to her adopter. Then, suddenly her belly swelled up -- she was 10 months pregnant. Diagnostics revealed that she probably could not give birth normally because her pelvis was not just broken -- it was shattered. For her and her baby to have a chance, she needed to be in an environment with cutting-edge care where a C-section could be performed if necessary. She has been moved to the high-risk pregnancy unit of an equine medical center. Now we wait, giving her baby as much time as possible to grow to maturity. What does this cost? I do not know because it depends on what happens. But it costs a lot. Sophia is the reason for this raffle. This raffle is sponsored by the nonprofit Brother Bear Equine Foundation in partnership with me, Dr. Martha M. Faraday, and Four Oaks Equine Nutrition. I am offering an equine consultation valued at $425 as the raffle prize. An equine consultation includes review of: current feeding program; a complete and detailed history; all diagnostics (e.g., blood work, radiographs, veterinary notes, farrier and body worker observations, etc.); visual assessments either in person or virtually (using pictures and video); and, creation of a custom feeding and supplementation plan. The consultation also includes six months of support in implementation. You do not have a horse? If you win, you can gift your consultation to a friend with a horse. Or, you can use the consultation for a cat or a dog -- I also work with small animals. The proceeds from this raffle go directly to the Brother Bear Equine Foundation, an IRS-approved nonprofit that focuses on pulling the most debilitated and desperate horses from the slaughter pipeline. For more information about the Brother Bear Equine Foundation, see here: https://4oaksequine.com/brother-bear/. Please help. By the time the raffle is over, we will know what happened -- we will know if Sophia survived, if her baby survived, and whether the baby is a boy or a girl. We will know more about miracles -- we cannot know enough about miracles. Please participate in this miracle with $10. The drawing will be on May 1st. A note about the donation software -- it pays all processing fees so that 100% of donated dollars go into the Brother Bear bank account. It will pull up a Contributions window once you purchase your ticket(s); it is asking for a tip. If you scroll to Other, it will not charge extra.
