Discover the wonder of this local Ohio natural food. Join our experienced sugar cookers for an intimate, one hour tour and hands-on experience in the sugar bush. Learn how to tap a maple tree, help collect sap and observe the evaporation process in the sugar shack, while spending time in Stratford’s beautiful forest! Local maple syrup will be available for purchase.  Tours require participants to be able to walk about 3/4 of a mile, last approximately one hour and depart every half hour with the last tour leaving at noon.

What to ExpectTours are outside, last approximately 1 hour and require participants to be able to walk about 3/4 of a mile.  What to WearThe large majority of this tour is outdoors, please dress accordingly for the weather.  The trails can sometimes get especially muddy this time of year.  Be sure to wear boots that can get muddy.  We have some rain boots available for borrowing, but sizes are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.  SyrupPure, local maple syrup will be available for purchase after your tour to make for a delicious breakfast the next morning! WeatherThis is a rain or shine program.  Please dress for the weather.  In the event of extreme or unsafe weather we will cancel and/or reschedule if possible.  We will notify you of any cancellations.  Cancellation PolicyIf you need to cancel for any reason you have a couple of options:1. Notify us at least two weeks in advance of your cancellation and donate your registration fee - we will send you a donation acknowledgement letter for tax purposes 2. Notify us at least 2 weeks in advance and request a refund. Refunds take 5-10 business days to process. Cancellations less than 2 weeks prior to your tour are not eligible for a refund, but please let us know so we can plan accordingly.  Cancellation requests should be e-mailed to business@stratfordecological center.org.
