We are an all-volunteer organization, and together with member-families we serve 18 counties in West Tennessee: Benton, Carrol, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Henry, Lake, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Obion, Weakley, and parts of Fayette and Tipton counties. WTHEA is one of the seven chapters of the Tennessee Home Education Association. THEA is a non-profit 501 c-3 Christian organization, founded in 1984, with the purpose of preserving and defending the rights of parents to direct the education of their children and to provide a statewide network of support, encouragement, and assistance to homeschooling families. THEA monitors the Tennessee legislative and judicial arenas, with senate and house  representation alerting members to crucial events affecting the freedom of home education. THEA also hosts an annual Rally Day where home educating families from around the state converge on the Capitol Building for a day to meet our representatives and discuss homeschooling successes. Historically, there are opportunities at Rally Day for homeschool families, such as speech contests, mock Senate proceedings, Capitol building tours, and much more! WTHEA focuses on assisting homeschool families at the local level. Dues go right back into operating costs for all of the events and activities offered, as well as supporting THEA. We have hosted events such as spelling bees, parent meet-ups, high school and kindergarten graduations, picnics, middle school and high school dances, curriculum/book sales, workshops, and our newest addition is competitive sports! We appreciate your membership and support as we track legislation, support your rights to home educate, and faithfully build a community of life-long learners right inside our own homes!  Kind regards.
