Join us in supporting local food and farm products at our first Farm-to-Table Fundraiser, hosted on-site at the Burning Barrel farm and restaurant in Lecompton, Kansas - just a short drive north of Lawrence. The mission of the Lawrence Farmers' Market is to provide everyone in the Lawrence, KS area, with locally grown foods and farm products. LFM became a non-profit organization in 2012 to help improve access to local, healthy, affordable food and increase education and support of Lawrence-area agriculture. We at the market believe that small, local farms are essential to the local economy and are committed to making economic and educational connections between Lawrence-area residents and local farmers. Burning Barrel's Chef Brian Strecker has studied cooking methods from all over the world. In focusing on meat fabrication, fermentation, fresh vegetable preparations, and live-fire cooking, he recognized a vein that runs through every culture's culinary traditions: fresh is best. That is why every ingredient on his plates is sourced from his own farm or from one of the hard-working farmers down at the Lawrence Farmers' Market. This ticket provides you a Hyperlocal 3-course meal with drink pairings in the beautiful setting of Burning Barrel, accompanied by live music from Megafauna and a short presentation about the Lawrence Farmers' Market. Event Details:5pm -- Cocktail Hour -- Explore the Burning Barrel farm and mingle with LFM Board and Staff6pm -- Appetizer -- Head over to the shipping container for appetizers, drinks, and a short presentation about our mission6:30pm -- Main Course -- Find your seat and enjoy the rest of your night with food and drinks The Lawrence Farmers' Market is a membership-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to improve access to local food in the Lawrence area community. One of the ways we work on this is through our token program: accepting SNAP-EBT and doubling up spending power through both the Double Up Food Bucks and Double Up Protein Bucks programs. The market also aims to increase education on local agriculture, eating seasonally, and the importance of small family farms. Our Kid Education Programs and Community Outreach efforts support these educational goals of ours.
