IthacaChildren & Youth Chorus - Prelude
(Kindergarten-2nd Grade)
The region’s leading choral program for youth since 1983!
Emily Richards, Artistic Director
Sarah Smokay Linfors, Director Prelude

The IthacaChildren & Youth Chorus (ICYC) strives to instill a life-long love of music as the area’s only exclusive children’s choral program. ICYC provides an inclusive and complete choral experience for young singers through culturally diverse repertoire from varied traditions. Rehearsals include pedagogically appropriate musical activities with a commitment to excellence and cooperation. Each ensemble rehearses weekly and schedules performances throughout the community. In addition, all ensembles participate in two collaborative performances a year, and typically offers an all-chorus retreat in the fall and spring.
Prelude
Prelude is the beginning ICYC ensemble, for singers in grades K-2nd, and is centered on healthy singing and celebrating the joy of music. Singers will learn beginning choral and musical skills such as pitch matching, rhythm, melody, tone, posture, breath support, and age-appropriate music theory, through activities, games, and movement.
