Our iconic gold umbrellas have reached the end of their lifespan. We're planning to replace them with larger canopies to shade the entire lunch area. Whitney will be expanding from 1050 to 1500 students next year. With the earlier start of the school year and changing Southern California climate, your support of our Campus Shade Project helps provide a safe place to enjoy snack and lunch while bonding with fellow students from different years in the Whitney Way. Our Campus Shade Project supplements the school district's responsibility to provide infrastructure to accommodate the expanded student body. If any donations to this campaign aren't needed for this purpose, The Whitney Foundation will use the funds to support other educational needs of Whitney students as we enter the next 50 years of educational excellence.
