You can find us by searching for “Grand Rapids Modern Quilters”. Please join us! At the top of the page, you can find Featured Posts, where we have information about our meeting schedule, location and board members. Under “Files”, you can find things like our meeting minutes and bylaws. Sometimes we also post things here like directions to an event, or instructions from a class. We currently meet on the first Tuesday of each month at East Congregational Church 1005 Giddings Ave. Generally, people start arriving at the meeting around 6:30pm for social time. Our business meeting starts at 7:00pm. We usually end our meetings with a sew and share, so bring your latest creation to share with us. It’s a great way to meet some new friends! ActivitiesBelow are some of the activities that we do. It’s not meant to be an exhaustive list, just a quick overview to get you started. Milestone Marker is our internal UFO (unfinished object) challenge. A couple of times a year, we circulate a form for you to write down some sewing goals, and you put some cash into the kitty. Every month that you complete one of your goals, your name goes into a drawing for a prize. Swaps and Challenges are an opportunity to challenge yourself to think outside your normal box. There’s a theme each month. For example, make a zippered pouch, or sew a 12 x 12 mini quilt with an animal theme. Sometimes we swap these with a mystery or predetermined partner, and sometimes it’s just for the fun of making it for yourself (or a gift?!). Name tags! As your first GRMQG activity, we would love for you to make a name tag to wear at each of our meetings. We love making new friends, but sometimes we shy away when we can’t remember each others’ names!  We don’t have any actual rules about what you need or don’t need on your name tag, except for your name! Please make it large enough to read from 20 feet away. It doesn’t have to be complicated. If you do a google search for quilted name tags, you might find some cool inspiration.
