Andree B. Carter is a contemporary American artist known for her highly detailed, non-objective motifs in vibrant palettes. A New Orleans native with an MFA from the University of New Orleans, she has completed residencies at the Bau Institute (Italy), Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Ucross Foundation. Her work has been exhibited across the U.S. and Europe. Adrian Tio is a contemporary American artist of Puerto Rican/American parentage. He trained at the University of Cincinnati, Temple University, and the Tyler School of Art in Rome. His work has been widely exhibited and is held in the collections of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Library (Boston, MA), the Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center (Chicago, IL), the Ateneo Puertorriqueño (San Juan, Puerto Rico), and the Rockefeller Foundation (New York), among other institutions. This drawing on paper features an abstracted network of hands and faces rendered in the artist’s characteristic softly blended, rhythmic style.

This horizontally oriented semi-abstract figurative painting depicts a rider in military attire atop a horse with exaggeratedly large proportions. Felix Angel (b. 1949) is known for his semi-abstracted figurative compositions. He served as a Commissioner on the Arts and Humanities Washington D.C. Commission between 1978 and 1989, and since 2000 has been a contributing editor to the Handbook of Latin American Studies at the Library of Congress. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States and South America since the 1970s.
