Miguel Compañy, was born in Cuba in 1895 and, as a master guitar maker, was the chief luthier for the Cuban National Folk Orchestra. In 1962 however, he precariously emigrated to Miami on a raft where he opened a small shop there in Little Havana, building his reputation as a distinguished and celebrated luthier during the 1960’s and 70’s.

In 1969, he presented this incredibly rare rosewood with white birch and teak six-string acoustic guitar to José Feliciano where it has remained a cherished part of his collection for over 50 years.
