The tour was created to address the need for deeper education about the origins of Africans in America and to highlight stories that honor the struggle, survival, and dignity of those harmed by enslavement. Cincinnati&rsquo;s position on the Ohio River tied the city&rsquo;s early economy to the slaveholding South. Even so, a courageous group of Cincinnatians became key allies in the fight for freedom, supporting enslaved people who escaped north. Their leadership helped make the &ldquo;Queen City&rdquo; a major destination on the Underground Railroad&mdash;the first multiethnic, multiracial, multiclass human rights movement in U.S. history&mdash;often referred to as Cincinnati&rsquo;s Underground Railroad.
