This special large promotional poster was displayed outside The Point Theatre in Dublin, Ireland, to announce the Cleveland San Jose Ballet’s performances of Coppélia (August 21-25, 1990, choreography by Dennis Nahat, after Petipa) starring Rudolf Nureyev in the role of Dr. Coppélius. This signed sheet poster (measuring 60”x40” unframed) was presented to Melissa Mitchell, one of 3 principal dancers with CSJB who danced the leading role of Swanhilda with Rudolf Nureyev as Dr. Coppélius. The image on the poster of Mr. Nureyev is a detail from the James Wyeth Sketch #10 of Nureyev, circa. 1977. Over a period of several years, beginning in 1977, James Wyeth filled his sketchbooks and canvases with portraits of Rudolf Nureyev.
