Hanson will be sitting in conversation with the founder and president of Rewilding America Now, Manda Kalimian. Come early to the event for a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres starting at 6:15PM. You will get the opportunity to walk around the beautiful farm and meet some of the wild horses, as well as chat with certified Natural Horsemanship trainer, Michael Battenfield. Gold Coast forum is a not-for-profit organization focused on educating and informing all about the importance of books and literature by hosting vitally important authors and literary figures, providing a nonpartisan forum to discuss art, culture, history, business, and politics. CHAD HANSON divides his time between Casper, Wyoming and the Red Feather Lakes region of Colorado. He teaches in the areas of sociology and religion at Casper College, he is a member of the Higher Learning Commission's (HLC) Peer Review Corps, and he has served as a partner in the National Endowment for the Humanities' research program. Hanson's recent awards include the Meadowhawk Prize in Poetry, and a Creative Writing Fellowship from the Wyoming Arts Council, made possible through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. MANDA KALIMIAN is the Founder and President of Rewilding America Now and leads RAN in their work. She has been outwardly active, collaborating with scientific research institutions as well as policy-focused groups. She published the book Born To Rewild: Triumphs of a Now Fearless Woman, which tells of her efforts to protect wild horses endangered by bureaucratic struggles, and of her connections with American Indian groups also focused on protecting keystone American species. She actively participates in the Native Congress of American Indians and led the push for rewilding-focused language in the American 2020 Interior Appropriations budget bill. REWILDING AMERICA NOW works with tribal nations, lobbyists, farmers, and other groups to protect natural habitat for species including wild horses, beavers, and bison, with projects in Idaho, North Dakota, and the Standing Rock Reservation. They push to promote rewilding and habitat protection through direct boots-on-the-ground work, impact litigation, public outreach and education, and more. For the Fall 2024 semester, they hosted students from the Brooks School for an experiential learning program highlighting rewilding strategies, providing direct perspectives from local farmers, ranchers, and American Indian tribal leaders.  <hr />PLEASE NOTE: All books signed at this event must be purchased from Theodore's Books.
