Kentucky Owl is a bourbon name with roots stretching back to 1879, when pharmacist C.M. Dedman founded the original Kentucky Owl distillery. The brand disappeared after its whiskey stocks were seized by the federal government in 1916, shortly before Prohibition, and was revived nearly a century later by Dedman’s great-great-grandson, Dixon Dedman.

Confiscated takes its name from that remarkable chapter in the brand’s history. Introduced in 2019, it was Kentucky Owl’s first bourbon released nationwide and brought the revived brand’s distinctive blending style to a much wider audience.

Bottled at 96.4 proof (48.2% ABV), Confiscated is a Kentucky straight bourbon with a rich, mature character. Expect aromas of caramel, oak, leather, and citrus, followed by flavors of vanilla, caramel, seasoned oak, and gentle spice. The finish brings cinnamon, brown sugar, and lingering oak.

Produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, Weller replaces the rye traditionally used as bourbon's secondary grain with wheat. The result is the softer, sweeter style associated with the Weller name. William Larue Weller helped pioneer this approach in the 19th century, creating a whiskey tradition that continues today.

Aged for a full 12 years and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV), Weller 12 offers a wonderfully approachable combination of maturity and sweetness.
