The Irish Cultural Center of the Mohawk Valley is delighted to welcome back Maire Ni Chathasaigh and Chris Newman to its stage at 7 PM Friday Oct 2, 2026. If you missed them when they were here in 2023 now is your chance to catch them; and if you saw them in 2023 you certainly won&#39;t want to miss seeing them again. The virtuoso partnership of England&rsquo;s premier flatpicking guitarist and &ldquo;the greatest Celtic harper of our age&rdquo; (LIVE IRELAND) has by now brought its unique musical vision to twenty-two countries on five continents. Chris and M&aacute;ire have performed at nearly two thousand venues large and small throughout the world. M&aacute;ire is one of Ireland&rsquo;s most influential traditional musicians, described by the late Derek Bell of the Chieftains as &ldquo;the most interesting and original player of the Irish harp today&rdquo;. Chris is an entirely self-taught virtuoso who&#39;s been obsessed with the guitar since the age of four. At fourteen he played his first paid gig in a folk club. He met the great swing guitarist Diz Disley in his late teens and played with him the length and breadth of the UK. Tickets, $25, are available here or at the Five Points Public House.
