Help staff Conectando a Hialeah, walks for seniors in the Palm Ave Corridor of Hialeah combining physical activity, pedestrian safety education, and street-level infrastructure auditing while training senior Walk Leads to sustain the program independently. By pairing physical activity with safety education and infrastructure auditing,&nbsp;the program builds lived, place-based knowledge that translates into civic advocacy. Walking Audit findings will be submitted to city officials as community-generated evidence, connecting to Hialeah&#39;s new Master Plan and its ongoing pedestrian infrastructure investments. There will be 12 walks from September to December. Each walk will be between 15 to 30 minutes.&nbsp;<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Before a walk: we will stretch, hydrate, and eat a few snacks.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">During the walk: help seniors walk and navigate obstacles as needed, take breaks as needed, stay with seniors that may need a break, carry water/snacks in case anyone needs, observe, discuss, and mark pedestrian infrastructure on a provided auditing checklist</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">After the walk: hydrate, eat snacks, and brief presentations on pedestrian safety topics</li></ul>Some Spanish proficiency needed, as most participants only speak Spanish.
