Lunch will be served from 12:00pm - 1:00pm for those who are interested, and a continuing education certificate will be available upon completion of the event (1 hour of ethics PDH and 1 hour of general PDH). David Winyard, engineering program director at Northwestern College, will be presenting on the following topics. Government Service Reflections David Winyard, Northwestern College&rsquo;s new Engineering Program Director, was employed by the U.S. Navy and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) for 37 years. His navy R&amp;D work focused on hydraulic systems and pumps used on ships and submarines. At DLA he began in Value Engineering and ended up in Logistics R&amp;D. His experiences offer insights into engineering work for and with government organizations. Christian Ethics Education and Assessment Challenges From 2021&ndash;2025, David Winyard planned and executed summative ethics assessments for the new engineering program at Grace College, Winona Lake, Indiana. Without the benefit of a stand-alone ethics course, but receiving some instruction in ethics as part of the assessment process, students struggled to demonstrate some elements of ethical reasoning. Their difficulties offer insights into ethics education and how Christian engineers might approach a self-assessment of their ethical reasoning.
