Dear Friends, Family, Knights, and the Greater Orlando Community, We are excited to announce that on November 9th, 2024, the brothers of the Immortal Iota Rho Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. will proudly host our 10th Annual Juvenile Diabetes Awareness Dinner in loving memory of our beloved brother, Anwar Abdur-Rashid.This milestone event holds special meaning for us as we reflect on a decade of honoring Anwar’s legacy. Known as “Braveheart,” Anwar lost his battle with diabetes in 2011, and since 2012, this dinner has become not only a tribute to his memory but a powerful evening of education and hope for all affected by diabetes. As we mark this 10th anniversary, we are calling on the community’s support more than ever before. This event has grown into a cherished tradition, and with your help, we can make it an even greater success this year. By keeping the dinner free and open to the public, we ensure that everyone has access to this vital educational opportunity, but we need your help to cover expenses and continue our mission. All donations will go directly to the North Florida Chapter of Breakthrough T1D, formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to support their ongoing efforts to find a cure for diabetes.Your generous contribution—no matter the size—will make a lasting impact and help us celebrate this important milestone.
