HerUpland Pointing Dog - Novice
Sundance, WY June 15 - 18, 2023
Join us in Sundance, WY to help prepare for your upcoming hunting season and/or pointing dog test. The Novice Pointing Dog is for 28 women, four scholarships available for youth girls (applications due May 1, 2023). This camp utilizes testing requirements from NAVHDA NA, JGHV VJP, VHDF HAE and AKC JH as training guides to implement throughout camp. However, this camp is not directly affiliated with any of those organizations. This camp will focus on field search, pointing, obedience, cooperation, recall, retrieving on land and in water, and tracking fur and feather. You and your dog will no doubt benefit from this camp based on the curriculum and experienced instructors volunteering their time for this event.
Ultimately, this camp aims to help better prepare yourself and your dog for the upcoming hunting season and potential testing venue. As part of learning all aspects of training and testing preparation, you will learn and be requested to assist throughout the weekend with bird catching and planting, field gunning, setting wingers, and cleaning and preparing birds for dinner, amongst other tasks.
