Grammy winner Mollie O’Brien and Rich Moore to perform benefit concert for Northwest Denver’s Bienvenidos Food Bank September 28.2024 at Merritt House Denver.
Local North Denver roots musicians Mollie O’Brien and Rich Moore will perform in a benefit concert for Northwest Denver’s Bienvenidos Food Bank on Saturday, September 28 at 7pm at the Merritt House Chapel at 2246 Irving St.
Mollie O’Brien and Rich Moore, Northwest Denver residents since 1984, are considered national musical treasures and their love of American roots music translates into a wide array of styles. They have a fluid ability to make themselves at home in any genre while never sacrificing the essence of the songs they tackle. Mollie won a Grammy for her part in the 1997 recording, True Life Blues and she is a member of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.
Rich and Mollie have toured all over the world: from Athens, Greece to Athens, Ohio; in tiny villages on the islands of Shetland and Sweden; at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival; and at Northwest Denver’s own Sunnyside Music Festival. Between them they have 15 CDs to their credit. You might also find them on their front porch in Harkness Heights.
Since 1976, Bienvenidos (a program of North West Family Assistance Center) has operated a weekly food pantry serving over 300 families each week in a welcoming and safe environment. In addition they offer deliveries to homebound clients and monthly mobile pantries at various locations. With fresh food and non-perishable donations from local grocery stores, farmers, churches and neighbors as well as monetary contributions from all over Colorado, Bienvenidos is a long standing Northwest Denver institution. Volunteers (including Mollie and Rich) are also essential to Bienvenidos’ mission.
The concert, at 7pm on September 28, will be held at the newly renovated Merritt House, which formerly held the Merritt Methodist Church at 2246 Irving Street.
Please visit Merritt House at www.merritthouse.net to learn more about the new co-working and event space.
The artists, sound company, sound engineer and Merritt House are all donating their time and efforts to help continue Bienvenidos Food Bank’s good work for all of our Northwest Denver neighbors. September is Hunger Action Month - remember that for every $1 cash donation Bienvenidos can provide more than $9 worth of food to people who need it. Join us on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 7pm at the Merritt House for great music for a great cause.
