She is an expert in the area of diagnosis and treatment of the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). </p><p>For the past two decades, she has led a large translational research group that focuses on the pathophysiology and biomarkers of sepsis, ARDS, acute kidney injury (AKI) and brain injury in critical illness.
