3-Year Anniversary

KinoSaito 3-Year Anniversary Celebration! It’s that time of year again! Join us at KinoSaito for another rendition of our much beloved garden parties! We’ll be holding a performance by Arone Dyer, hosting a deep dive discussion into our current exhibition NON-Objectified, and opening the doors to our studios so everyone can see the amazing work our current Artists in Residence have been working on! Tickets are $20/person and include food, drinks, shuttle bus, panel discussion, and access to performance by Arone Dyer. Food and drink included with ticket price. KinoSaito is a five-minute drive from the Peekskill Metro-North station, which is one hour from Grand Central; shuttles between the Peekskill station and KinoSaito will be available during the celebration on September 7th, from 2:00 – 7:30pm. Tickets give access to all of the following: 2-5pm | Open Studios with Chie Fueki and Tommy KhaJoin us for open studios with our current Artists in Residence. Exhibition Currently on ViewKikuo Saito: Summer SongThe paintings on display primarily focus on a period of 12 years in which Kikuo Saito returns again and again to the implied shape of an ellipse as a site to explore notational mark-making and dynamic color relationships.  Chie Fueki: Petal Storm Memory After attending a Japanese elementary and middle school and an international high school in São Paulo, she moved north to the United States for college and graduate school. Fueki grew up feeling like an outsider in Brazil and then again in the U.S. Even though she was raised in a Japanese household, the cultural collisions she experienced at such an impressionable age enormously impacted her sense of self and left her with a sense of displacement and longing – untethered in her own floating world. NON ObjectifiedA riff on Rodchenko’s term, a double entendre exploring female artists’ resistance to the objectification of bodies. The show takes the form of a dialogue between works by a cross-generational, international group of artists selected for their varying approaches to abstraction, each variation invoking or involving the body in subtle ways.
