Discover original work by local artist Deanna Todd, created in the spirit of Lake City&rsquo;s growing arts community. Each piece reflects the textures, seasons, and stories that shape daily life here. 🎨 Dee was raised in Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a BS in Art Education, but instead of teaching, in 1972 she began a career in Real Estate. She moved to Arlington, Texas, raised &nbsp;two children and started working real estate sales, management and corporate relocation. &nbsp;When the last child started college in Texas, she moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she continued her career in real estate, but added home remodeling and building.&nbsp;Always keeping an eye out for a home in a good location, but in need of someone with a vision of what it could and should be, Dee earned a reputation as someone who could put all of her artistic abilities to work remodeling or building and was written up in several Santa Fe publications. After fifty years in real estate, and several major life changes, Dee moved to Lake City, Colorado and began painting again. She did mostly oil paintings of &nbsp;fish. &nbsp;Then after studying with a Santa Fe pastel artist, Tobi Clement, she began working in pastels and doing more pastels featuring landscapes and sunsets. &nbsp;She has also studied with Creede, Colorado artist Stephen Quiller in watercolor, casein, and acrylics and his use of water based media. &nbsp; Thus, after exploring various types of media and subject matter 2026 brought Dee full circle, landing on Pastel as a favorite medium for use in her work. &nbsp;As she says, &ldquo;You don&rsquo;t have to wait for it to dry, and it gives you immediate high intensity color!
