As severe weather events become more frequent and costly, architects have an opportunity to deliver stronger, more resilient buildings through the FORTIFIED&trade; program, the voluntary, research-based construction standard developed by the Insurance Institute for Business &amp; Home Safety (IBHS).This session provides an overview of the FORTIFIED Roof&trade;, Silver&trade;, and Gold&trade; designations and how they help protect homes from high winds, hail, and wind-driven rain.&nbsp; Attendees will learn how FORTIFIED complements modern building codes, including jurisdictions with robust code requirements, by providing a verified, system-based approach to resilience that focuses on reducing damage, speeding recovery, and improving long-term building performance.Participants will gain practical insight into incorporating FORTIFIED measures into new construction and renovation projects, while exploring the value these standards can provide clients through enhanced durability, potential insurance incentives, and reduced post-storm repair costs.
