For more information, see our FAQs listed below: Dinner for Six F.A.Q. 1. What is Dinner for Six? Dinner for Six is a great way to make new friends and deepen relationships with others that you may already know at Trinity UMC. Small groups are formed consisting of six people. The groups will get together for a meal once a month for three consecutive months, beginning January 2026. You share meals in one another’s homes, at local restaurants, the church or wherever the group decides. The emphasis is on fun and fellowship, so you don't need a big house or to be a gourmet cook to participate. 2. How does it work? First – sign up! Registration opens October 1, 2026, and will remain open until November 16, 2026. After registration closes, you will be sent a schedule with the groups to which you’ve been assigned for each of the three months. The group you’re paired up with will change every month. You’ll enjoy dining in a friendly, small group and having an opportunity to make new friends in Christ. We will assign a coordinator for each group. The coordinator will then communicate with each person in the group to determine the best date for that month’s meal, select the best date and time, the type of meal and the responsibilities for each person in the group. Responsibilities might include bringing one of the meal components, like bread or a dessert. You might decide to host and invite everyone into your home for a meal. Your biggest responsibility, however, will be to simply show up and enjoy your new-found friends. 3. How much is the registration fee? There is no registration fee. The only costs you will incur are either the cost of your contribution to the meal (salad, entrée, dessert, etc.) or if your group chooses to go out to a restaurant, the price for your own meal. 4. How do I sign up? We’ve made it easy to register. You can go to our online registration site at: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/dinner-for-six--2026 Or you can click on the QR code shown below and register with your phone. 5. I don’t have space to host six people, and I’m not a great cook! Our desire is for you to spend time together getting to know each other, not fussing over a gourmet meal or cleaning house. Your group may choose to meet in someone’s home, or you may choose to meet at a restaurant. If finding a host home is difficult, your group is welcome to schedule a time to meet in Murrow Hall. We want everyone to feel that they can participate. 6. Does it have to be dinner? Nope! It is a meal that works for everyone in your group. Early risers? Meet and have a sausage biscuit together at McDonalds. Don’t like to drive after dark? How about soup and sandwiches for lunch? Don’t like heavy meals after 5 p.m.? Be creative and have appetizers only or go wild and do dessert and coffee. It really is up to you and your group. And it should be fun! 7. Ok – what if we do want to go the usual route of hosting in someone’s home? Your coordinator will ask for a volunteer to host (and you can indicate your willingness to host on your registration form). Usually, the host supplies the main course, and the other four people will supply bread, salad or soup and dessert. The host will communicate with the other group members about what date works best for everyone, and what items each person can bring. Remember – this is not a contest for the fanciest table or a Michelin-star meal. In fact, we think simple and easy meals are the best. 8. I’d like to participate but I’m single. Is this for couples only? Absolutely not! We will do our best to create groups with similar interests and to expand your friendships within the church. 9. What about families? Mark this on your registration and we will work to combine you with other families. 10. Do I get to pick who is in my group each month? No, we will do that for you. When registrations are complete, we will assign all the groups and notify everyone with the names and contact information of the people with whom they will be sharing a meal for each of the three months. 11. What happens at the end of the three months? We have a potluck supper planned in Murrow Hall in April for all our “Dinner for Six” participants so that you can say hi once again and make plans to nurture your new friendships in the future! 12. You had me at dinner! What’s next? Register now and encourage others at Trinity to join in the fun. The more people that sign up, the more opportunity you have to strengthen your church relationships. Registration is open until November 15. 12. I still have questions. Who should I contact? Feel free to contact Debbie Wood at (sealavie438@gmail.com) for more information.
