disABILITYsa partners with local entertainment spaces to create opportunities for the disability community to engage in arts, nature, and other entertaining experiences in disability inclusive environments. disABILITYsa provides ASL Interpreters, Audio/ASL files for featured exhibits, adaptive art supply station, sensory room, changing room, and outreach to make the experience a success.
This space is intended to provide a place for individuals who are experiencing sensory overstimulation to stim, retreat, and self-regulate so that they are able to stay and engage in community experiences longer instead of going home. This unit is a four-walled canopy equipped with padded flooring, therapy tools and equipment, fans/heater, and an attendant.
The Mobile Changing Unit (MCU), a 24-foot trailer with toileting facilities to meet the needs of those with ambulatory disabilities or who require additional assistance. The facilities include a power hoist/hoyer lift for safe transfers, a height-adjustable universal changing table, a handheld showerhead, and ADA toilet, handlebars, and sink. The MCU will be staffed by trained Attendant who will supervise its use, ensure cleanliness and safety, and offer assistance as needed on site. Up to 6 hours of use.
A four walled canopy equipped with a stationary table (or an adjustable height table), manual human lift system, trashcan, hand washing station, signage, and cleaning supplies.
Engaging children of all ages and abilities in the activities at community events, festivals, and gatherings creates a more inclusive experience for everyone. disABILITYsa’s adaptive art station provides adaptive tools and resources that make the arts & crafts experience more engaging and accessible for guests with limited dexterity and use of their arms and hands.
Sensory kits made available for check-out to guests providing tools and resources to help people with disabilities engage in community celebrations alongside other guests to help reduce segregation or the creation of other spaces for guests with disabilities.
A portable 8' x 12' stage (2.44 m x 3.66 m) built from six modular riser panels, standing 12" (30 cm) high, with a black anti-slip surface, a gently sloped 10-foot (3 m) ramp, and safety stage skirting on all four sides.
The stage gives speakers, performers, honorees, and award recipients with disabilities, including wheelchair users and people with mobility disabilities, an independent route to the stage so they can take full part in the program alongside everyone else instead of being presented from the floor. The platform has room for a podium, several presenters, or a small group of performers, and it can serve as the main stage or sit beside an existing stage as an accessible addition.
disABILITYsa staff handle setup and teardown, including assembling the panels, attaching and securing the ramp, installing the skirting, and doing a final safety check before the event starts. Up to 6 hours of use.
