For the past five years, Kala Collective, a nonprofit by artists, for artists, has brought Navratri to life through music and dance featuring accomplished artists and students, followed by community Garba and Dandiya for families and children. The celebration brings together traditions from North and South India, creating a joyful shared experience that reflects the richness and diversity of Indian culture. Kala Collective has also partnered with and supported nonprofits advancing women&rsquo;s empowerment and community-focused causes. Downtown Diwali was created by a group of full-time working moms who wanted to build the kind of Diwali celebration they felt was missing in New York City: joyful, immersive, family-centered, and deeply rooted in culture. For the past five years, Downtown Diwali has brought families together to celebrate through music, dance, food, art, storytelling, and shared traditions&mdash;giving children the opportunity to experience Diwali not simply as a festival, but as a meaningful connection to their heritage and community.
