Non-Certified Professional Membership

For opticians and optical professionals who are not currently ABO certified but want to stay connected, continue learning, and support the advancement of opticianry in Missouri.

Membership includes access to continuing education, networking opportunities, professional resources, and industry support through the Show-Me State Opticians Society, along with applicable member benefits through the United Opticians Association.

Non-Certified Professional Members are eligible to vote on society matters and may participate in the leadership and governance of the organization in accordance with the SMSO bylaws.

All SMSO members are invited to participate in society committees, attend Board of Directors meetings as guests, take part in the Society’s Slack general communication, and access the members-only section of the SMSO website.

ABO Certified Optician Membership

For opticians who have earned and maintain ABO certification through the American Board of Opticianry.

Membership supports continuing education, professional growth, advocacy, networking, and connection within Missouri’s optical community through the Show-Me State Opticians Society. Members also receive access to applicable benefits through the United Opticians Association.

ABO Certified Members are eligible to vote on society matters and may participate in the leadership and governance of the organization in accordance with the SMSO bylaws.

All SMSO members are invited to participate in society committees, attend Board of Directors meetings as guests, take part in the Society’s Slack general communication, and access the members-only section of the SMSO website.

Industry Member

Industry Members are non-voting members and are not eligible to serve as members of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, or as committee chairs.

For industry partners, optical supporters, vendors, practices, and individuals who want to support the mission and growth of opticianry in Missouri.

Industry Membership helps strengthen continuing education, professional development, advocacy, and community initiatives through the Show-Me State Opticians Society.

Members also receive opportunities for connection and visibility within Missouri’s optical community.

Industry Members remain valued participants in the society and play an important role in supporting SMSO programs, education, and the optical profession in Missouri.

Industry Members are non-voting members and are not eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, or as committee chairs. Industry Members are, however, welcome to participate on committees, attend Board meetings as guests, engage in Society communications, and take advantage of other member resources and benefits.
