Over 3 months, you’ll explore what makes a song truly unforgettable while having fun with classmates in a collaborative and creative environment. Each week, we’ll dive into song analysis, jam sessions, and songwriting exercises that unlock your creative potential. Whether it’s experimenting with instruments like the guitar, keyboard, or drums, or turning your feelings into lyrics, this class will inspire you to embrace the joy of making music. We’ll take a hands-on approach to learning the building blocks of music—like rhythm, melody, and structure—through spontaneous jam sessions and group activities. By the end of the course, you’ll have written and recorded your own songs, and you’ll leave with a better understanding of how songs come together. Whether you’re dreaming of playing an instrument, writing your own songs, or just exploring something new, this class is your perfect starting point. Participants will gain foundations in:<ul><li style="font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;box-sizing:inherit">Song Ideation - Extracting inspiration from everyday life, feelings of gratitude, using the song to transform difficult emotions</li><li style="font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;box-sizing:inherit">Lyrics - Song structure, intention, emotion, category</li><li style="font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;box-sizing:inherit">Melody - Choosing an instrument(s), notes and chords, key signatures group notes and chords together into a cohesive sound</li><li style="font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;box-sizing:inherit">Rhythm - Song pace, dropping into the flow, capturing the emotion, time signatures</li></ul> About the learning guideStephanie is a professional musician, guitar teacher and singer songwriter who’s convinced that beginner music lessons for children should be fun. Sometimes she gets a little woo-woo, and says things like “music is the language of the soul” to back up her claim. Her goal is to teach your child chords, chord progressions, strum patterns, proper technique, and give them the tools to get started as a guitar player.Stephanie is also a wife, occasional yoga teacher, and plant mama who loves to cook, write, and find new music for playlists.
