How To Tell Your Story: Writing Our Moments of Change

Crossroads. Intersections. Thresholds.

Whatever we call them, these moments are moments of change--after which we are not the same. On our recovery journeys, there are things that happen, things that people say, things that we do that linger in our minds and become essential to our stories. We often struggle to write them down. Where do we begin? How do we find our voices? Why do these experiences resonate long after the moment ends? This workshop will explore our threshold moments--whether they're beginnings or endings, seen or unseen, internal or external shifts. We'll consider how naming these moments can help us find new language for when our old stories no longer feel true. We'll discuss how to voice stories contemporary to ourselves on our recovery paths. Our stories are living organisms: they change as we change. We'll close with advice on how you can structure your narrative and keep writing. You can expect writing exercises and craft tools for finding your voice and shaping your story.

This writing workshop will be facilitated by authors, speakers, and activists Stephanie Covington-Armstrong, and Lara Jacobs. This event is open to anyone 18 or older, no writing experience is required. Suggested donation to attend is $40, which will directly support the free, peer led services offered by ANAD: eating disorder support groups, mentorship, and national helpline.
