SPEAKER:  Peter Yu and Ian Johnecheck, Project Managers    Cordoba Corporation  The Creation of the Pipeline Safety Enhancement Plan  in the Aftermath of San Bruno  Peter Yu and Ian Johnecheck Abstract:   In September of 2010, an explosion, caused by a leak in a natural gas transmission pipeline, that killed 8 people in San Bruno, CA, set off an order from the California Public Utilities Commision (CPUC) that all natural gas transmission operators in the State of California ensure the safe operation of their transmission pipelines. Major utilities SoCalGas and SDG&E developed programs such as the Pipeline Safety Enhancement Plan (PSEP) in order to enhance public safety, comply with the Commission's directives, minimize customer impacts, and maximize cost effectiveness. This presentation will cover the background and aftermath of the tragedy, the methods used to execute the plan, and the role that Cordoba Corporation plays in this work
