This professional development series for teachers will include a detailed examination of the history of the Holocaust combined with significant discussion and exploration of how to teach this difficult topic to students. Each session will be led by Scott Auspelmyer, Executive Director of the SCCH, and Dr. Chad Gibbs, professor at the College of Charleston and director of the Zucker/Goldberg Center for Holocaust Studies. The second session of this series is The Holocaust: Genocide, Liberation, and Aftermath (1939 - 1945 and after).  Presenters will lead participants on an in depth examination of the history of this era including such topics as the concentration camp system, the Final Solution, Jewish resistance and rescuers, Allied liberation, and the aftermath for survivors. Interwoven with the historical discussion will be a review of useful primary sources and practical lessons that can be implemented by teachers in their classrooms. This session is located at the MT Anderson Support Center at 100 Blassingame Rd, Greenville, SC 29605, USA All participants will receive lunch and a content specific book on the day of the event.
