This intimate duo performance celebrates the "cantes de ida y vuelta"—the soulful flamenco songs that traveled to Latin America and returned to Spain transformed by new rhythms and traditions. In El Siempre Mar, Solla and Lizana interlace their respective heritages of Argentine Tango and Spanish Flamenco through the sophisticated lens of American Jazz. The result is a vibrant, cross-cultural dialogue between two of the most innovative voices in contemporary music. The Artists Emilio Solla (www.emiliosolla.com) is a multi-Grammy nominated and Latin Grammy-winning composer, arranger, and pianist. Renowned for his ability to summon global rhythms, his work has been hailed by The New York Times, which noted, "The virile throb of Astor Piazzolla's nuevo tango is omnipresent in the pianist Emilio Solla's stately pulse." With a career spanning performances at the world’s most iconic venues alongside legends like Paquito D'Rivera and Arturo O'Farrill, Solla continues to push the boundaries of Latin Jazz. Antonio Lizana (www.antoniolizanamusic.com) is a rare talent in the flamenco-jazz world, celebrated globally as both a soulful flamenco singer and a world-class jazz saxophonist. A prolific composer and lyricist, Lizana has brought his unique style to major festivals including SXSW, the Barcelona Jazz Festival, and Flamenco festivals in London, New York, and San Francisco.
