Tara is the personification of the enlightened wisdom and love whose quick, decisive action benefits all beings. In one story, a young princess visited the Buddha of that time daily, listening carefully to his teachings, and doing her best to live by them. When some monks told her that if she continued she might accumulate enough good karma to be born as a male, the princess went to the Buddha and said: &ldquo;I thought you said everyone has Buddha Nature equally.&rdquo; The Buddha replied this was correct. She then relayed the monks comments and after hearing the Buddha agree with her, she took a vow to achieve enlightenment and to always remain in a female form.There are countless forms of Tara. The Buddha himself taught twenty-one. While there are different descriptions of those 21, we will use practices revealed by Chokyur Lingpa and Jigme Lingpa and the 21 Taras as described in the Longchen Nyingthig.
