Before the film, bring the family for a hands-on, kid-friendly activity led by the Oak Spring Local Education and Outreach Team, exploring food webs, keystone species and conservation! Following the screening, stay for a conversation featuring Sir Peter Crane (President of the Oak Spring Garden Foundation) and Dr. Mark Madison (Chief Historian at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's National Conservation Training Center), as they discuss the ecological principles highlighted in the film and their implications for modern conservation. Schedule of Events:

2:00 - 3:00pm: Hands-on Kids Activity

3:00 - 4:30pm: Film Screening (The Serengeti Rules)

4:30 - 5:00pm: Conservation discussion with Mark Madison & Peter Crane

About the FilmBeginning in the 1960s, a small band of young scientists headed out into the wilderness, driven by an insatiable curiosity about how nature works. Immersed in some of the most remote and spectacular places on Earth—from the majestic Serengeti to the Amazon jungle, from the Arctic Ocean to Pacific tide pools—they discovered a single set of rules that govern all life. Now in the twilight of their eminent careers, these five unsung heroes of modern ecology share the stories of their adventures, reveal how their pioneering work flipped our view of nature on its head, and give us a chance to re-imagine the world as it could and should be.
