Along the journey we will learn about prescribed burns as a management strategy to maintain the natural ecology of the wildlife habitats. In 1990 the Broussard family established the Allen Broussard Conservancy with a mission to preserve natural lands that are now the Forever Florida tract. The Conservancy continues to pursue its goal of acquiring, protecting, and managing the entire Forever Florida tract as a permanent natural environment for conservation. Combined with the adjoining State-owned Bull Creek and Triple N Wildlife Management Areas, and the near-by Three Lakes WMA, these four protected natural lands encompass more than 95,000 acres. Forever Florida engages in partnerships with other conservation organizations to ensure proper management of the land in perpetuity. Following the field trip we will gather for lunch inside the lodge. Please pack a picnic lunch, refillable water bottle, drinks, sun protection and insect repellent.  The $5 donation will be given to Forever Florida to support their environmental care and restoration.
