We were motivated by the rapid increases in access to alcohol that were launched during COVID's outbreak in 2020: Home Delivery, Cocktails-to-go, Entertainment District expansion, and increases in the hours of sale when alcohol could be sold. We found that very few people or organizations were presenting a public health or public safety message to the Georgia General Assembly. GAPA is a nonprofit organization based (at this time) on purely voluntary contributions by the board members. GAPA does have relationships with the Schools of Public Health at Emory, Georgia State, and Georgia College and State University, where our interns are studying.
