Bart Windrum is a citizen end-of-life reform advocate working to empower all of us civilians and providers, by clarifying what it really takes to die in peace. He presents nationally to both lay and professional audiences.
Stimulated by the inadequate terminal hospitalizations of each of my parents (January 2004, April-May 2005), my unique end-of-life lexicon focuses on identifying and mitigating the range of everyday practical obstacles that ensnare many, if not most, of us in the type of peace-less dying we claim to reject. The lexicon is called Dying in Peace: Our Rights of Passage. Bart is the author of The Promised Landing: A Gateway to Peaceful Dying. http://axiomaction.com

TESTIMONIALS

The moment I walked into the Doorway into the Light's International Death Doula Conference, I felt a coming home to a vital, compassionate group of individuals ready and capable to be of service to the dying and grieving. It was by far the best 5 days of knowledge I have ever received in my life! Do yourself and family members a favor and come to the next one! Your life will forever be transformed!

- Katie Knoche Mendocino, California

I am deeply moved by the realization of how engaged you are in the phenomenal service you offer of helping people die, and helping families grieve, and deal with dying and with death. I share your passion for how important this work is.

I left this class supercharged with my own history in relation to grief, and to death and I honor this charge as a deepening, an opening. I recognize the love, care, and openheartedness

that you bring to this work, and I honor you in this.

For reference, I was in your death doula training in 2018. I was an ICU nurse at the time. I wanted to let you know I’ve been working as a hospice nurse at North Hawaii Hospice (on Big Island) since the end of 2019. We do home care and it has been such a blessing to help people die well in their homes. Thank you for the inspiration and mentorship. Your training helped me learn how to show up for the dying with more presence, gentleness, and love. And to move from a state of doing to a state of being with them. It’s great to see the training is going to meet again in person this year!

Reverend Bodhi Be’s open-heart loving presence served as a solid rock foundation for this profound and depth-filled course. Through his love, he helped create a space where we felt safe to explore our deep vulnerability and profound emotional feelings about death. No questions were off-limits. No judgment ever felt. Through his love, we knew that we all mattered.

Our journey took us down many paths~A few were:

* We are all going to die. We don’t know when

*Why and Ways to prepare for death

*How to care for the dying (What matters the most)

*Small and large group sharing where carrying bonds were formed

*Powerful Rituals held

*Countless profound thoughts on living and dying

This is a course not to be missed!

I am so grateful for Bodhi Be and Doorway Into Light. Bodhi has brought the concept of death and dying into the light with education, compassion and even humor.   He has helped me, and so many, to relax our fears about dying and be more accepting and prepared about our own death.  I donate regularly to Doorway into Light so that they will be here for me and others when we need them..... And because i feel good when I remember to feel my gratitude.

With so much love, Joy and Herb Cherry

We contribute to Doorway Into Light because of our appreciation and gratitude for the work and compassion spread into the world by this organization as they help our brothers and sisters make the transition out of this world.
