What We Do:Bookish is dedicated to addressing the critical issue of book access among low-income and underserved children and teens in Clark County. Research highlights that the very presence of books in a home is linked to significant educational benefits. However, two-thirds of low-income children have no books at home. We aim to bridge this gap by creating a traveling bookstore that offers a wide range of free quality books. We will be a regular presence at community events, parks, schools, clinics, farmers markets, and rural areas where access to libraries is limited.

What Do Your Membership Dollars Support?

• A Traveling (FREE) Bookstore!! Help us purchase a trailer to retrofit into a FREE pop-up bookstore for our youth!Our mobile bookstore offers a wide range of free books for children and teens. We visit community events, parks, schools, clinics, farmers markets, and rural areas with limited access to libraries.

• Community Events! Inventory of diverse, quality literature that helps our kids WANT to read! We participate in local festivals, fairs, and public gatherings to distribute books and promote reading. Additionally, we host book fairs and literacy events to engage the community.

• School Partnerships!  Inventory and funds for children who can't afford book fair books!We collaborate with local schools to provide free books to students. Our programs include book donation drives and literacy initiatives within the schools.

• Clinic and Healthcare Outreach!  Inventory to stock and replenish at our free bookstores within clinics!We set up book distribution points in clinics and healthcare centers to reach children during medical visits. We partner with healthcare providers to integrate book giveaways into wellness programs.

• Admin fees!  Salary, fuel, supplies, subscription & POS fees - it is part of what keeps the books flowing!
